The 9th Annual STG 2016 Golf Invitational to be held in Loving Memory of Sarah Tarditi Gallagher

The Ninth Annual STG 2016 Golf Invitational being held in loving memory of Sarah Tarditi Gallagher to benefit The STG Fund at The Community Foundation of South Jersey and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will take place on Monday, October 10, 2016 at Tavistock Country Club in Haddonfield, New Jersey.
Someone is newly diagnosed with blood cancer every five minutes. Leukemia remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children. Almost 900,000 Americans are living with leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma. There is no known cure for them.
“This is our ninth year of our charitable golf outing held in loving memory of our late daughter, Sarah Tarditi Gallagher,” said Jack Tarditi. We are so grateful for the many friends, business associates and committee members who have stepped up to support this activity in Sarah’s memory. Barbara and I and our family are pleased we can help many charities with the proceeds from Sarah’s golf outing.”
“I’ve had the pleasure of knowing the Tarditi family for many, many years and I truly cherish their friendship and dedication to helping others in the community around them,” said Bernie Parent, Honorary Chair. “Leave it to the Tarditi’s to create something positive out of one of the most difficult times. The STG Golf Outing exists to honor Sarah Tarditi Gallagher and give hope to others in the community, and I am honored to be a part of it year after year.”
“As one of the founders of the STG Golf Outing, I get to see the impact it makes to the community firsthand, up close and personal,” remarked Dean Smith, Co-Chair and Principal of ICU Investigations. “Other than the significant contributions to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, we also contribute to other small, local charities that make a difference right here at home. We impact our friends and neighbors, the ‘underdog’ charities if you will, that might otherwise have gone unnoticed.”
“Getting involved in this cause is one of the best decisions I’ve made,” continued Smith. “It is a true honor and privilege to continue honoring Sarah Tarditi Gallagher with such a significant impact, just like the impact she had on her family and friends.”
“I am honored to be an Honorary Co-Chair of the 2016 STG Golf Invitational”, said Jon Runyan. “The golf tournament is a great event year after year, and the Tarditis, as well as the Committee members, have created a wonderful organization in Sarah’s memory and honor. I look forward to helping the STG Fund continue to make a positive impact through its contributions to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of New Jersey and other local organizations that help to support our community.”
Golfers can participate in the Ninth Annual STG 2016 Golf Invitational in foursomes or as individuals. Companies and individuals can also help by sponsoring holes, golf carts, refreshments or dinner for the event. Non-playing individuals can attend the dinner, which begins with cocktails at 5pm. Personal donations are welcomed and appreciated.
Contributions made on behalf of Sarah Tarditi Gallagher to the STG Fund at The Community Foundation of South Jersey are invested in the cure for all cancers, since most life-saving cancer treatment methods were first pioneered in the treatment of leukemia. These treatments include chemotherapy, radiation, bone marrow transplantation and new targeted drug therapies that kill cancer cells without harming normal ones. Hopefully, we will find cures that do not require such devastating treatments as radiation and chemotherapy.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) depends entirely on contributions from individuals, special events, corporations and foundations like STG. LLS has invested more than $600 million in research. This money has led to key advances in understanding blood cancers and life saving drugs and treatments to fight them. Since 1960, the five year survival rate for leukemia has quadrupled to 51.2% and the survival rate for Hodgkin lymphoma has doubled to more than 86%.
Last year, several wonderful organizations were the recipients of grants funded by money raised at the 2015 STG Golf Invitational, including the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of New Jersey, Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice, Cares Institute, Hope Loves Company, Fabretto Education Foundation, Urban Promise, Interfaith Caregivers, Discovery Ministries and Robins’ Nest.
