  The Rutgers-Camden Quarterly Business Outlook drew 225 attendees to its breakfast confab Tuesday, July 15, at the Clarion Hotel in Cherry Hill, and at least 5 or 6 silver linings from the region’s very cloudy economic situation.
  Sponsored by the Rutgers School of Business-Camden and supported by Flaster/Greenberg and the Chamber of Commerce of Southern New Jersey, the diverse panel gathered together by Quarterly Business Outlook moderator and business school dean Mitchell Koza took turns searching the economic horizon for good news.
The panelists pulled no punches about the fact the economy is bumping along, but plucked these potential plums from the national financial downturn:

Agency To Bid Farewell To Cherry Tree Corporate Center
  Linda Rosanio, CEO of The Star Group, announced that the agency will be relocating its South Jersey offices in late summer, 2008  to a new, company-owned building, currently under construction at Voorhees Town Center, Voorhees, NJ.   
   Now the region’s largest marketing communications firm and one of the nation’s Top 100, Star will be leaving Cherry Tree Corporate Center, Route 38, Cherry Hill, NJ, after more than two decades. 

  The Philadelphia Business Journal has named Team Builders Plus of Cherry Hill one of the 25 fastest growing companies in Southern New Jersey for the second year in a row.  The global leadership and team development firm was ranked number 24 in last year’s list and advanced to number 8 this year, with a revenue growth of 171.21% from 2005 to 2007.  The top 25 companies were chosen and ranked by researchers at Rowan University’s Rohrer College of Business.

  Team Builders Plus partners Jeff Backal, CEO, and Merrick Rosenberg, President, were honored to have been recognized for the second year running.

  Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law released a new research study analyzing the economic gains that same-sex couples' weddings would bring to New Jersey. Presently California stands as the sole recipient of the same-sex tourism and wedding windfall; if New Jersey extended marriage to same-sex couples it could share in that windfall.

  The New Jersey wedding industry will receive a substantial $248 million boost in direct spending by same-sex couples over the next three years.  The study predicts that, based on the experience of Massachusetts, half of New Jerseys 21,178 same-sex couples will want to marry, leading to 10,589 weddings.  Another 45,831 out-of-state couples are likely to travel to New Jersey to marry. This economic lift will also likely generate over 800 new jobs in the state.

Eagles will join with eagles May 20 as The Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter hosts its 8th Annual Spring Golf Classic at Woodcrest Country Club in Cherry Hill.  Special guest for the fundraiser will be Philadelphia offensive tackle Jon Runyan.

This year’s tournament has slots for 128 golfers, who can register online at www.alz.org/desjsepa.  Cost for a single golfer is $425, which includes lunch courtesy of Carrabba’s Italian Grill, a cocktail party and buffet dinner.
