Adventure Aquarium Announces New Attraction

During a press conference held recently at Adventure Aquarium, a Herschend Family Entertainment company, Kevin Keppel, Executive Director, was joined by Camden Mayor Dana Redd, Senator Donald Norcross and Camden County Freeholder Deputy Director Edward T. McDonnell in announcing a new attraction scheduled to open in spring 2015.
The Skyview Tower is a new observation tower ride that gently carries 30 people 25 stories up in an open-air gondola for a unique and exhilarating experience. Passengers will rise above the Delaware River to see spectacular views of the Philadelphia region. In the evening, the illuminated attraction will serve as a colorful beacon and can change to reflect different seasons, holidays and celebrations. Rides may be purchased alone or with Aquarium admission.
“Many major tourist markets like Boston, Chicago, New York and Seattle have a version of an observation tower,” said Keppel. “We are happy to be in a position to deliver this iconic attraction to New Jersey, a major tourist destination. The view from high-atop Camden across the Delaware River to the Philadelphia skyline will be breathtaking.”
Since opening in 2005, the Adventure Aquarium has continued to grow its footprint and its offerings. It has a growing reputation as a world-class destination uniquely combining fun with immersive learning experiences. Adventure Aquarium is the only aquarium in the world to exhibit hippos and is also home to the largest collection of sharks on the East Coast.
“There’s nothing that makes me happier than seeing the faces of children and families as they walk to their cars, ride in their strollers or board their buses after a day at the Adventure Aquarium,” said Mayor Redd. “Camden is fortunate to have a magnificent attraction on our Waterfront, and I am grateful for the Aquarium’s ongoing commitment to our city and the region.”
“Time and again the Adventure Aquarium has proven itself to be a great draw for the residents of the Delaware Valley,” said Senator Norcross. “Visitors have been able to explore the depths of the ocean, now they can reach new heights. The Skyview Tower is sure to become South Jersey’s newest landmark.”
“We are excited to work with our Waterfront partners to create another great reason to visit Camden and the Camden County Park System's Ulysses S. Wiggins Waterfront Park,” said Freeholder McDonnell. “This project will complement all of the great attractions that bring countless visitors to the Camden Waterfront each year and act to stimulate the city's economy.”
