The Men And Women Who Keep Cape May County On The Move

09/02/08

For the fifth month, we’re taking a crack at identifying the men and women who make the region go…on a county-by-county basis.
It’s our listing, based on our reader’s suggestions, of at least some of the men and women who keep South Jersey on the move.
We started with Burlington and moved on to Gloucester, Cumberland, and Salem Counties. Now this month’s list focuses on the movers and shakers in Cape May County. Next month it will be Atlantic County.
We want to hear from you for every list. But be aware that we’ve established a couple of “rules” to guide your recommendations:
No elected officials. It’s their job to make the region go. (But we WILL consider appointed officials.)
We’re going first by the county in which the person’s business is located, but we’ll consider the county in which the person resides if that’s where they’ve made their mark. (If you’re in doubt, send us the suggestion and we’ll figure it out).
If we miss somebody that you think should have been included, drop us an e-mail at news@snjbp.com.
Some folks will be included because of what they do in their full-time jobs. Others because of their community, civic, and philanthropic activities. And still others because they are so influential or well known (or both) that they know everybody and everybody knows them.
The trait they all share is that they can either get things done or influence how what gets done actually happens. Finally, of course, we’re going to omit some good people and maybe even misidentify a few as well. That’s why we’re counting on you to help us get the list as “right” as it can be.

  •   For the seventh month, we’re taking a crack at identifying the men and women who make the region go…on a county-by-county basis.
It’s our listing, based on our reader’s suggestions, of at least some of the men and women who keep South Jersey on the move.
We started with Burlington and moved on to Gloucester, Cumberland, Salem, Cape May, and Atlantic Counties. Now this month’s list focuses on the movers and shakers in Ocean County. Next month it will be Camden County.
We want to hear from you for every list. But be aware that we’ve established a couple of “rules” to guide your recommendations:

  •   Q.  Because of the nature of your industry, do you have both short and long-range strategies in place: short and flexible to be proactive, and long and stable to reflect the basic philosophy of SJG?
      A.  Yes, SJG has both short and long range strategies to ensure ongoing success.  Short term, we are working to control operating and maintenance expenses through productivity improvements and investments in new technology, as well as to grow our customer base through new construction and conversions from alternate fuel sources.  Through our Conservation Incentive Program, we are also educating our customers regarding their energy usage, and encouraging them to utilize energy more efficiently.
