Not Your Typical CPA
10/20/07
Recently I was at a conference in Montreal and someone asked me about "what
I do." Normally people think of CPAs as dry, boring...typical bean counters.
So to be honest - I had to think about this for a moment!
Why?
Well - I'm a CPA who isn't a "bean-counter". I'm also a guy who loves
helping people which is why I launched a talk radio show at WNJC 1360 AM
www.wnjc1360.com) in Sewell, NJ. I describe my show, "Greenberg News" as
Larry King with a sense of humor.!( I broadcast at 5pm on Thursdays. )
Over the years, I've spoken to a number of national and local celebrities.
It never ceases to amaze me what I learn each time. I even had the Wall
Street Journal include me on a national story about talk show hosts.
One topic from the radio show spawned a TV opportunity. One of my areas of
interest, college planning, was discussed on "Greenberg News" that was picked up by the GM of WPSJ TV (www.wpsjtv.com). Through
this discovery, we developed "College Bound" a TV show dedicated to
educating parents and students so they can find the right college at the
right price. Soon, I was appearing nationally on Wall Street Journal Report
and Bloomberg News and in Readers' Digest, NY Times, Chicago Times, LA Times
and The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Who say CPAs can't have fun too!
I'm also a travel nut. With encouragement to write about my travels, I am
now a travel writer for www.travelworldmagazine.com.
Another hobby came from one of my clients, Jo Anderson Model and Talent
Agency. With their outstanding expertise, they have placed me on TV
shows, commercials and print ads. My first gig was appearing on Court TV's
"Forensic Files" as a detective. I have portrayed a sleazy car salesman in
a commercial, a part I claim is a stretch, others say otherwise. And, I have
appeared as a doctor in a drug company's ethics handbook.
I think I'm living proof for my clients that ANYTHING is possible. You can
have a fabulous career, create wealth and you can also experience life on
many levels - without having to stay awake at 3 am worrying about the
future.
Because honestly - life is too short and way too much fun to be worrying
about the money.
